Eligibility Criteria

Thank you for your interest in the Cheatham-White Scholarship Program!  Before being given access to the Cheatham-White Scholarship application, a student must first be nominated by themselves or by a school administrator.  Nominations for eligible candidates will be accepted until 11:59:59 p.m. on November 1, 2025.

High school administrators can submit nominations using this form. Students wishing to self-nominate should review the statement below.

Students may self-nominate in their Eagle Promise Portal when submitting an application for undergraduate admission.

To be eligible to apply for the Cheatham-White Scholarship at North Carolina Central University, a student must satisfy the following criteria at the time of application:

•  Be on course to graduate from high school in the spring semester prior to college admission.

•  Be admitted as a freshman in the upcoming fall semester into a baccalaureate program at North Carolina Central University.

•  Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

•  Have a minimum 4.0 weighted or unweighted cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

•  Have a minimum SAT (Math and Evidence-Based Reading) score of 1280 or a minimum ACT score of 28 (optional).

•  Show exceptional qualities of character and leadership.

•  Be significantly involved in extracurricular activities.

•  Demonstrate a strong commitment to service.


Please note that any applicant who does not meet the qualifications above will not be considered.
